Many business owners unwittingly slow down their payments by failing to communicate clearly – and regularly – with their clients and customers. Don’t make the same mistake. Follow our communication tips and start getting paid faster in 2016.

Key communication strategies for faster payments

  • Outline your payment terms clearly and always confirm them with your clients before you start work. This way, your clients will know exactly what to expect and you’ll reduce the risk of clients misunderstanding your requirements and paying late.
  • Send invoice reminders. This can be automated with Xero’s Invoice Reminders service.
  • Ensure your clients know exactly how they can pay you and which payment methods you do and do not accept before you provide your services.
  • If you offer an online payment service, mention this when you quote your clients and advertise your services.
